You got a lot of answers, but I will break it down and tell you why. Diesel is 43 cetane number and gas (petrol) is 87-94 octane, cetane and octane are similar as far as predetination goes.
If you ran diesel in a gas engine ,it would predetinate causing engine damage. Most cars run on 87 octane, others need 91 octane, when you mix 43 centane it will lower you octane level.
You did not add much diesel at all, if you are worried at all, just add the highest octane available.
You added about a liter? A liter of diesel to 40 or 50 liters of gas is not much to worry about.

Drain the tank and refill with petrol. Before starting, also drain the fuel line between the tank and the filter or even the fuel enterance into your engine. If you try to burn out the diesel, I bet you would be sorry cos the car wouldnt even run on idle and you will need to keep on reving till the tank is empty!!!!!

If the diesel has got into the system you may need to have it flushed through ( Very expensive) if it is just in the fuel tank then that will have to be drained and flushed out,,,,,,,if you try to thin it out all that will happen is that your engine will stall and wont start again,,if you are on the motorway or busy junction you wont want that happening ,,,,,just phone a competent garage and explain the situation,,,,£2.70 is about a 3 litre amount so it is still enough to cause you problems

you'd be nice...drain or siphon the tank, fill with petrol, and do not placed diesel in it anymore. Diesel almost continuously has extra oil in it which will strengthen this is resistance to detonation...it might want to pretty a lot be like pouring a quart of oil on your gas tank. also...provided that petrol is a solvent this is going to sparkling it for you. That being reported, a effective can of gas Injector purifier might want to be a sturdy idea.

I would fill your car with petrol and then again when the tank is halfway. No harm will come to the engine. It would if it was petrol in a deisel car. It might smoke a bit for a few miles but no danger of major damage..

Got AA or RAC membership? Call them out - had a quick read around some motoring forums and advice is mixed on this. Some say go ahead and fill with petrol, some say get it drained. Get the professionals in - a new engine or even just a new cat is NOT cheap!

DON'T start it or you'll ruin the catalitic converter, get the tank drained and refill with petrol, a wee bit of petrol in a diesel doesn't matter but not this way round.

You could try thinning it out with petrol.
Odds are it will probbably smoke and maybe even knock a little until you get all of the diesel (worked) out of the tank.
If anything at all happen, worst case senario you may have to replace your fuel filter. Not expensive or time consuming.
My brother loaned his truck to someone who did the same thing.

Fill it up with petrol to dilute the diesel. It should be ok, £2.70 worth of diesel is just a thimble full!
