We have just cut down an old shaggy, dying tree in our back yard and have saved all of the timber. We thought we would save it for next winter to use in our fireplace.

usually its considered 'green' for one year. Then its 'seasoned'.

A year is seasoned. Make sure the tree is not pine. Pine wood will cause cresote which clings to the inside of the chimney and is a cause of chimney fires.

It has to be dry for a year before it can be burned 2 years if you want it fully dried.

it takes a month if KILN DRYING will be used.
