I can's get my dinner plates to fit in the bottom tray of my dishwasher! Is this a design floor - any ideas? (aside from laying them down!).

I have a slimline dishwasher (not Hotpoint though) and had this problem as my plates are a bit larger than usual. You can move the top rack up a notch or two so they fit in the bottom tray

They must be enormous plates, or you've not read the instructions properly. You should find that the top rack is adjustable, to give more space in the bottom? There again maybe the slimline model has less space all round!
