If a couple Corey(he's named after a deceased relative named Cora) & Melissa had a baby girl, would it be corny for them to name her Corissa? And use Cora for a nickname?

Thanks to everyone for responding :)

It's just an idea. I really didn't think it would be a "gimmick" kind of name. I don't find Corissa to be a real common name(I've never seen any), I've seen more Carissa's around. I thought it was unique & I think it's pretty. Some children take their father's namesake & she'd be named after 3 relatives in one...

My best friend loved it & seems to think it needs to be that name, but I'm not entirely sold on it just because of the tacky/ corny idea of it. I could see it being a decent name though.

It's stupid. Give the kid her own name.

I love Cora, though. Why not just use that?

I acutall know a Corissa, So the name is adorable to me. To add the names together I think is very sweet and bonding. Not many people have names that they can do that with. It will mean a lot to your little Cora.... I am sure of it!

corny but really really cute for some reason i think it is an adorable idea. "Corey Melissa and Corissa" would just sound so cute on Christmas cards haha. Cora is really pretty itself.

I think it's fine. Corissa is cute.

I know of a couple named Brandon and Tracey that named their daughter Bracey. Yuck!

So, compared to that, Corissa is a great name!

Cora is a nice names not sure about Corey though, but I think you should use something totally different like Grace, Michelle, Louise, Kathy, Elizabeth etc.

No I like it. I think its cool when people use there names to make there children's names. My husband name is Jaime and our sons name will be Jaimeson. Get it? But for real I do like it, the name is different but not weird. And I like the nickname Cora.

It sounds like a cute name. of course the origin of it is kinda silly, but the name itself? I like it. "Cora" is also sweet.

Edit: the more I think about it, the more I think the names sound fantastic. maybe I'll ask you for help if I ever marry & have kids... can you make up nombres mexicanos too? :P

It may be corny(I don't really think so) but that is a beautiful name! I don't think it should really matter if it's corny or not, I mean it's a baby, not a love letter or a Rocky Balboa movie.

Personally I wouldn't use it but it's not that bad of a name. It's different without being stupid if you know what I mean. It also honours family members.
