Wouldn't it be nice if we could figure out that brain area "a" controls "b". Problem is, the various regions of the brain serve multiple purposes.

The brain as we understand it at present is a vast "interconnected" network. While there is a general belief that each side of the brain has distinct purposes: right-emotional, left-logic, this simplifies the concept.

Without logic, we would not "have" emotion, and emotion can, and often does "influence" logic.

This hemisphere simplicity also does not take into account the frontal cortex (both halves) which is involved in most thinking processes. Emotional processing is a thinking process.

What controls positive thinking? You do. To "think" positively is to choose a positive consciousness about any event, thought, emotion, etc.

Therefore, as positive thinking has been shown to influence the body's healing mechanism, it would continue that You (your conscious choice) control your healing processes to a degree.

You might want to investigate the understandings and scientific backup for Cognitive Behavioal Theory.

The right side of the brain since it responds to emotion.
