I know this question has been posted way too many times by others, but this is after the Alonso crash, after what potentially seems to be Hamilton's year..that's why.

Alonso was once the youngest F1 Champion ever. To his irritation, Lewis will soon be taking that away from him, as well as Lewis being the first "Rookie" to be a F1 Champion in his first season, in the history of F1. I think Ron Dennis will get rid of Alonso through either making an offer for him to buy his contract (for £50 million LOL) or by not naming him as a driver for 2008 but keeping him on the books thus forcing Alonso to buy his contract. I believe this will happen at the end of the season as it limits Alonso's options. It's highly likely that any team will take Alonso on as he is treacherous and damaging. Alonso, will be retiring as that is his only option left. There is some talk about Renault but it appears that it's just gossip. Regardless of what happens, Alonso is going to be punished, that's obvious. As for how he will be punished, we'll just have to wait and see. In my opinion, I'll be glad to see the back of the clown.

I'd be willing to bet real money that Alonso leaves McLaren the instant the season is over, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least, if he has a bad race in China, if he bails on them before Brazil. Lewis is such a manufactured product of McLaren, he doesn't open his mouth to say hello without instructions and he is publicly bad-mouthing Alonso. There's the known part of the spat between Alonso and Ron Dennis -- god only knows what else has been going on -- and McLaren has a history of drivers leaving abruptly for a lot less reason than Alonso has now, i.e. Montoya most recently. There is ZERO chance of Alonso driving a McLaren next year, and a possibility, although still only a slight one, that he won't finish this year.

Maybe Alonso will get Bourdais's old ride?

I'm still not sure either way. I guess we, like the rest of the paddock, will have to wait and see. realistically i think it would be his best option if he wants to vie for the championship next year. Todt has already said he is happy with his contracted drivers so i don't think Ferrari is an option for him.
