If the pill is 99.9% effective or whatever would you say that means NEARLY 1 times out of 100 someone would fall pregnant? not quite that coz it is 99.9 so maybe everyone 110 times you have unprotected sex do you think you would fall pregnant?
My partner and I love our sexual relationship and we do have unprotected sex, I am on the pill, we love each other but we are not ready for children yet, sometimes i do feel irresponsible but i love the chemistry between us and as bad as it sounds knowing its all "natural" (no dom) makes me want it with him more... but my next door neighbour fell pregnant twice on the pill.... whats your experiences and do you have any advise or anything that can help ease my mind?

OK....firstly 99.9% is 1 in 1000. It is a low number but it is still possible. If you don't want to stop having sex then I at least suggest you start using condoms as well... best to be as careful as possible

I was on the pill for 10 years and never fell pregnant. However I was religious with taking it at the right time and if I ever had to take antibiotics or had a stomach bug, I would use back up methods.
Oh and when i went off the pill, I conceived my first child 2 months after being off the pill, so I wasn't infertile. I fell pregnant with my second child a year later after being on the pill for 4 months, on my first cycle off the pill.
So really, the pill did a marvellous job of me not getting pregnant.

There are alternatives to taking birth control pills. I too have know several women who have concieved while taking the pill but most took them irregularly or skipped days. If you have doubts you may want to consider the contraceptive patch as an alternative. It is very reliable and still no condom needed. You may also wish to talk to your doctor about other alternative methods of contraception. Best of luck to you.

Well if you're not ready to have children then you should really think about using the "dom". A lot of times, it's when you're not expecting it is when it's more likely that you could end up expecting. It's that one percent that always gets people. So really the choice is up to you and your partner. Know this though, if you choose not to use it then expect that you very well could end up pregnant.

well maybe your neighbor skipped a few days and didnt WANT to get pregnant and ended up that way and just HAD to blame it on something. Yes there is a chance that you COULD get pregnant but the pill is usually quite reliable. and i wasnt trying to be rude about yur neighbor but that DOES happen alot!
hope that helped!!

I was on the pill and then was nt very well...not sick though...a month later I was pregnant. I can only attribute the pregnancy to the fact that I had been unwell....we had a lovely baby girl!

There are other options of course. In the link provided below you will see some other ways there on the left, including "The Shot" which is the Depo-Provera shot and other options besides the pill.

if you aren't ready for kids, and aren't married yet, use a condom as well as the Pill.
