this race showed you who has the bottle and the skill as far as drivers are concerned Being a McLaren fan I'm glad Lewis won but I think the best driver today was KIMI coming from the back to 3rd place shows real skill and bottle and I believe Lewis and Kimi are both in the same mold and no one else can hold a candle to them

I have some mixed feelings about this one. I always like the rain races but this was a little much.
The strategies were all thrown out the windows and driver skill came out. I understand the race starting from the roll but I think in this case it gave Lewis a BIG advantage but it would have given who ever a edge that was in front.
The driver of the race was Kimi though. He put a show on and they should look into in car cameras on demand for some of these drivers. The Massa thing at the end that move Kimi up a spot was good team work if that was indeed what went on. You run as a two car team then team you are. Any other team would have done this.
I would say Alonso did a good job driving with that damage most of the race. Too bad it happened at all because it would have been fun to see him get after Lewis.
One thing that I thought they should have done was got on Lewis for his stop and go stuff he was doing behind the pace car. That was not to sportsman like to be doing that and he could have been the cause of some of the bad action that went on before the race even seen green. I know Alonso about hit him a couple times.

Very interesting F1 this season!

1. Isn't this year a great F1 season for the best drivers?

2. Michael Schumacher was a living F1 legend and beaten by F.Alonso. Alonso the next dominant F1 champion?

3. After M. Scumacher retired, a reporter asked Alonso if he missed the rivalry. Alonso boasfully replied "Who's Schumacher?"

4. Alonso was excited to join Mclaren, said he can only be better by driving a better Mercedez car & will rule for decades , but amazingly so far he has beaten by a rookie, Lewis Hamilton!

5. Suppose early this year, Hamilton was in a different car, say, Ferrari, it wont be that interesting. The reason is that, we cannot judge both drivers' true ability with different cars & in different teams.
But what a coincidence they are in the same team !

6. Two more races to go!

7. Hamilton, can u really beat a reigning champion who started early this season at his peak?

8. Oh boy, I can't miss this, this will the best F1 race I've ever seen!!!

Very odd race but also very exciting. I was concerned about what they were going to do after running so many laps behind the safety car. I'm glad it eventually went green and they got to finish the race.

I thought the Ferrari's made a huge mistake by being on intermediate wet tires at the start instead of full wets. I don't think we've heard the end of that deal with the FIA saying that they informed the teams they must start on full wets when it is a safety car start.

Lewis did an outstanding job in the race. Yeah he got the advantage of being out front and with clearer vision when the race started but he still had to keep the car on track during some difficult conditions. He also bounced back well after the contact with Kubica.

Kovalainen had the drive of the day in my opinion. They chose the wrong setup and had less downforce but he still kept that car in second place after being harassed by Kimi for the last 10 laps or so.

Alonso had very bad luck. One spin and some contact with Vettel probably caused him to later hit the wall. His car was pretty damaged on the right side.

Speaking of Vettel, that poor kid. Did an excellent job running up front to only throw it all away later when he hit Webber in the back during a safety car period.

Massa and Kubica had a thrilling finish to their race. Massa uses most, if not all, of the paved runoff area to slash back in front of Kubica.

Don't know why Ralf decided to come back out with 4 laps remaining after being in the garage for 15 laps or so.

But the best thing was that I just learned that Sutil got that last point for Spyker after the stewards penailzed Liuzzi for passing him during that second safety car period.

Great Race! It was worth getting out of bed at 4:20 this morning. Sadly, the weather took away many good overtaking chances that would have been available othewise. Alonso once again made a prat of himself by trying to pressure Lewis when the safety car was coming in. He should have had more sense, Hamilton doesn't give in to pressure and the only thing Alonso nearly gained was a penalty for overtaking whilst the SC was out. He pulled alongside Lewis at least half a dozen times and Lewis, not cracking, slowed right down so Alonso was close to being in a position that would have him penalised. It was Alonso that finally cracked as Lewis reversed the pressure. Lewis read the circuit better than any other driver and drove off-line as much as on-line as he learn't all the best lines for the best grip. Somebody has commented, in another question, on a conspiracy by McLaren to favour Lewis. They claim that Alonso was brought into the pits before Lewis to make sure that Alonso left the pits amongst traffic. As Alonso had chose to qualify with less fuel than Lewis, he had to pit first and that is the only fact, apart from Alonso losing it on the in-lap thus costing him a few seconds. When there was action on the track, it was great and I hope that next year will see the race in dry weather conditions to make it even better as Fuji has many overtaking opportunities around the circuit.

Three Putt - as most have figured out, you are either a Ferrari fan, Alonso fan, fan of both or just don't have a clue about F1. You really need to stop acting like Alonso and Ferrari without real facts. Lewis was NOT driving a McLaren with Ferrari secrets, as you keep posting to all F1 questions. Fernando Alonso was the only McLaren driver that used the data, which Hamilton was NOT a party of. Prior to Alonso getting the Ferrari set-up data from Del a Rosa, Alonso was a cool 1/2 second slower than Hamilton. The gap was only closed when Alonso started to get the said data. If Hamilton got that same data, he'd have won every race since as his car was already the fastest before the events took place. Ferrari DID conspire to set McLaren up as they could not have McLaren penalised for the many complaints that they constantly fabricated. Ferrari were given immunity for everything they did on the condition that they bring McLaren to it's knees. Otherwise, Ferrari would NOT have won the Constructors Championship. They also tried to get the McLaren drivers banned thus Ferrari would have won the Drivers Championship as well. As only McLaren are better than Ferrari, Ferrari used their underhanded, scheming, plotting, nasty, two-faced, dirty tactics that they are well known for. Lewis has done a good job (for a rookie as you don't like) and it appears that as he's got such good talent (definitlely in the Senna, Mansell, Prost, Patresi league) you get as angry as Alonso and Ferrari over it. Your not Ron Todt, are you? You are certainly acting like him!

Any advantage that Lewis had from being first behind the safety car was deserved as he whipped everyone's arses in qualifying and that advantage would have been with anyone else if they had beaten Lewis yesterday.

I think it was a really exciting race. My heart was pounding at several moments and I was on the edge of my seat for most of it! Kimi did brilliantly, it was such a shame for Mark Webber (who was sick in his helmet!!!!) but mainly it was an absolutely awesome win for Lewis!

It was a great race, dont you think?despite the first 15 laps or so behind the safety car......Alonso apparently unfortunate....
And poor Webber and Vettel,I really thought they deserved points....And great overtaking by Kimi...good defending by Kovaleinen at the end....and of couse, great racing, the best we've seen for a long time, between Massa and Kubica....both showed spirit and determination and Massa was triumphant at the end...Guess one had to give up...eventually.
Great drive by Lewis who now seems to have one hand on the championship....
Disappointing race for Toyota....
Good to see Alonso walk out unscaled...
Well, summing up,it was a great race and one that we wont forget too soon, dont you agree?

I loved what Ron Dennis said to Lewis Hamilton on the radio after race at Fuji in Japan, "I think we can tick off driving in the wet"

I thought it was hilarious!

The fact that Alonso trashed his car and his reputation, was funny enough, but watching the Ferrari teams fall apart at the seams, make the most basically stupid errors of judgement and to see the funny little Frenchman Todt, pouting away like a spoiled child, was hysterical.

They really looked like the champions they are.....frauds!
