I just tested the "Caboodles" makeup case called "the Goddess" with MASSIVE amounts of lead in it! Got the test from Lowe's and it was extremely easy to use.
I am just shocked that when I took it back, I tested another one which they had there and it was even a DARKER RED!
Why isn't the Government doing it's job by making sure that merchandise which comes from other countries is safe? Why don't they start spending money on Consumer safety people instead of Iraq?!?

riach.. That was a rude comment! I WOULD buy American, but as all of the companies went overseas because they no longer have to pay tariffs here in the US it is IMPOSSIBLE TO!
And this has NOTHING to do with eyeshadow! To tell you the truth, it was NEVER used for it. My two year old carried it around and used it for a tote.

Chesl..It is not the make up. It is the make up cases which have the problem.
I don't know how long they have had this problem, but it is something that people need to be aware of and wake up that it isn't just kids toys. They need to take the prerogative and do some testing on their own, but yet the Government needs to wake up and start enforcing our laws.

Chesl..Lowe's didn't invent anything, they sell it. It isn't my job to make sure that items which I buy don't have lead in it. Lead was banned in paints during the 1960. There are laws to protect the consumers and people are totally ignorant for what lead does, and how dangerous it is.
If people actually woke up and looked at the documents from the SPP there would be a Revolution on their hands because they would learn that the USA government is wanting Canada and Mexico to screen all products coming into the US..not anyone in the USA. Consumer safety is the last thing on their mind, but without it, it will destroy the USA and leave people vulnerable. Might as well say that China is doing economic terrorism on the US.

Apparently some people are not concerned with feeding lead to their children. Yes, we have a personal responsibility to try to determine if the products which your children use are safe. How many people go to the lengths to actually purchase a lead test and test the products in their homes? What countless other poisonous products are in these items?
The only answer to this is to try to buy locally whenever possible. Multinational manufacturers have little control over the process because it is outsourced every step of the way.
How many parents have the guts to tell their children they cannot have a Barbie or GI Joe this Christmas because they want to boycott Mattell? I wish everyone would.

How long have you used this product? Have you had any problems when using these products? Do you know that they have over 11,000 stores currently in the United States and Canada. Not only that but, over 7,000 other outlets such as the UK, Puerto Rico, Australia, and other countries. Would you be this worried if you had not know that there is lead in their cosmetic (that is if they really do.)? Yet I havn't heard of anyone dying from Caboodles products. Also if you don't trust the govt to do the right thing in Iraq what makes you think they are going to do a good job with this. All you'll do is fill the bureaucrats pockets and they will use that paranoia to justify it.
response: I understand that its the cases, that's why majority of the time I stated "products" but one question I would really like to ask, with no disrespect why are you so fast at blaming business on the bad things that happened, but yet you didn't give a positive response towards Lowe's for inventing a device that can test such products? Does that happen to show that even the market itself can help protect you even though you are so fast at wanting a intrusive govt?
PS-Why should the govt do its job, they are going to get paid anyways?
Response: What about lead pencils? Well if this is such a problem, then give me a true source and actual proof that their products are as dangerous as you claim them to be. Also what made you want to buy this so called lead tester? Plus you still didn't answer two questions: How long have you had the product and has it caused you or anyone you know any problems?
The govt is the reason corporations go overseas which you have stated yourself. If there wasn't so many freakin laws and restrictions on the economy, we would have more American made products.
I rather use liberty to solve the problems then the government. Because govt doesn't do its job.

After 911 the Government stopped scanning most products because they needed that funding to fund port security for example . Consumer products being safe or not is on the back burner as long as people keep believing Mattel is the problem .

The government agency assigned with the duty to protect US citizens by testing products manufactured or sold to the US is not doing their job. They spend innordinate amounts of time and money inspecting, harrassing US manufacturing plants and little or nothing on inspecting/approving FOREIGN manufacturers. Their ineptness at approving/rejecting products from being marketed TO the US are by foreigners is;
1) Misdirected to inspecting/approving US made products- their sole responsibility is to guage FOREIGN mfr's;
2) Ill prepared or directed to inspect/approve FOREIGN products:
3) Bought and Paid for by CFR conglomerates (Walmart or any retailer / not manufacturers- because there are no more US manufacturers they are all overseas).
The only upside to your story/enquiry is that one retailer (Lowe's) provided you with the apparatus necessary to do the job that the FDA is paid to do but NOT DOING.

I agree! But then again, I guess it's more important to spend BILLIONS on getting to major oil reserves than it is to ensure that the American people are safe from the Chinese imports they use.

What! and possibly effect the large profits of greedy CEOs and stockholders! Are you mad?! I agree with you, and I believe we need to end these "so-called" free trade deals, because they are unfair to American workers and consumers! China shouldn't be allowed to participate in the world economy until they change their oppressive ways!

It may well be true. But let's not forget: American products may have it by mistake too. So it has nothing to do with "buy American" or not.
