what compound should i thermally decompose to get lithium oxide? is that lithium carbonate,lithium hydroxide or lithium peroxide which would be more efficient. will the lithium oxide obtained by the thermal decomposition be stable at room conditions?

put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds, take the lid off and see if its hot. if its hot stir it a bit and put it in for about another minute. if its cold put it in for about another minute and keep checking. also goes great if you mix gravy on top before you do it so it doesn't dry out.

I'd go with the carbonate, which is fairly plentiful, especially if you are manic-depressive. The oxide will be stable as long as it is kept dry. Otherwise, you are creating the hydroxide, which in time will absorb CO2 and become the carbonate.
