I have white and black friends.

What my white friends thinks is fat, my black friends think
is skinny or average.

Like J-lo or beyonce. Most white ppl would call them thick or fat and most black would say they are average or just right.

Why the differences in opinion if we all live together?

we are more accepting of curves. You ever notice how White women are the main ones with eating disorders? Blacks are a lot more comfortable with curves and meat on the bones. Brothas don't like stick figures and we don't like looking them either.

SKYY, well then honey you don't want a brotha, that still doesn't take away the fact that on average they do not want skinny women. Secondly, most White men and all you have to do is read a lot of these posts, say that being curvy isn't as appealing. You are as accepted as society deems you and as your culture deems you. Black culture is more comfortable with curves than is White culture. It's as simple as that. If you are SPECIFICALLY seeking out White men you have a bigger issue than curves going on. What really matters is that you are comfortable with who you are as well; I never said that you wouldn't be more accepting of your own curves if you dated White men. I said that we don't like looking like stick figures. I can all ready tell you probably carry that same individualistic mindset that comes along with acculturation; you have to be strong in who you are and not accept the values of mainstream society.

Hmm well Beyonce was fat to me before she lost that weight so I'm sure just as many black people thought she was black. There is a lot of nonsense in the answers given though. Sinister-6000 said alot of white models are super skinny. A lot of Black models are too. Alot of black people don't have asses and there are plenty of white people who do (and like it). ~One Love~ is living proof of that. Psychmaj323 said that we are more accepting to curves because 'brothas' like women with curves. What If I don't want a brother? What if I'm a black woman looking for a white guy? Does that mean I'm all of the sudden not more accepting to curves?

Now even though there are a lot of white people with curvy bodies, that doesn't mean all of them have that. Alot of white women don't have such a villumptuous shape like jojo or Beyonce. As a result, their fat goes in really bad places. Like instead of fat going to thier butts, it might go to their back. And instead of fat going to their legs and thighs like beyonce, it will go to their bellies. Some women can't really affort to gain weight like that because of their godgiven figure. The women who have curvy figures are more receptive to curves.

There is also a class thing involved but I'm not going to get into that. I'll get shot lol.

A lot of white models are super skinny. A lot of average black women got curves. So white people prolly see the badonkadonk and they dont know what to think. Cultural standards are different ya know. IMO black girls usually have better bodies but ........depends on the individual.

I'm guessing that for many, but not all white and black people, they have different cultural role models and cultural imputs which sets the standard of what is and what isn't an ideal weight. By cultural imputs, I'm referring to magazines, television shows, etc. But I'm sure that many white and black people agree on one standard or another.

Dunno, but I know for sure that people like Beyonce and J.Lo look good with their curves. I prefer women with curves. I guess it would also be of what people are used to seeing.
