I start counting down the days from the last out of the WS till Feb 19..thats approx whwn pitchers and catchers report. In between I watch college football and the NFL. I plan thanks giving and Christmas and New yrs and the Super Bowl. I look forward to local events. I spend time with my gf and my friends. I plan vacations and clean the house and pay the bills. I wake up every morning and click on yahoo sports and the first thing I go to is MLB. I have a normal full life but I love baseball most of all the sports. Its a big part of the things I enjoy...but its not my entire life

Thanksgiving Parade is November. Recruitment is December. Sign-ups is January. Rosters are due February. Schedules and conditioning in March. Games in April, May and June. Still working with sponsors in July. Fundraisers still in August & September. Just shot out grant applications to the Reds and MLB before the Oct 1 deadline. Mixed in there was the MLB season, the collegiate wooden bat season (GO CINCINNATI STEAM), car washes, grocery bagging, OH YEAH, COACHING AND WATCHING MY SON PLAY!

Now I can be a football dad for a couple of weeks before it's time to tear what's left of my hair out trying to start this minor league system for 2-to-5-year-olds before they can move on to Cincinnati Knothole Youth Baseball at age 6.

It isn't over until the last award is given out, usually in November. Then, there are the trades and the free market signings. Usually there are 3 or 4 weeks from mid-December to mid-January when I suffer from withdrawal -- still thinking baseball but not getting the need fed. It's like trying to quit smoking.

Then towards the end of January there are subtle signs of movement, until mid-February, it winds up again. Whee!

Head over to Phoenix in November to catch some Arizona Fall League games. February it will be Honolulu for some Hawaii Winter League baseball. Then, in March it's back to Phoenix for the start of spring training. Helps to have a son who lives in Phoenix and a daughter who's a flight attendant (garnering me free flight privileges).

after this season is over, there are winter baseball leagues, for the real fans of baseball, not just fans of the majors.

Well since the Giants are out I kinda lost interest when the 49ers began preseason. Yes, I am pathetic. I am sick and tired of them signing old guys who do diddly sqwat, if i could i would go on a rant like chris russo or w.e.
