that branded them?It would be interesting to know if was self, parent, relative like uncle/aunt, grandparent, sibling or friend who was the black sheep but if it is too personal no need to tell.
Also interested if a self absorbed or law breaking attitude contributed to the black sheep label. If they changed was there one major event of occurence that brought about that change,
my hubbt changed trementously after the birth of his first child, he is no longer the mean, aggressive selfish man of his youth. In fact I never met that man,
Do you have a simliar story to telate.

Sometimes persons labeled blacksheep are often the most functional and productive in a family. I suspect the label has a lot to do with jealousy and envy especially when it comes from family members. My father was labeled a blacksheep in his family w/12 siblings (it all changed as he grew older). However he was the only one of 13 children who served in the US military for over 12 years, graduated HS and went to college. He was an impressive writer. After age 30 yrs. he was a family favorite for childcare due to his love and patience in dealing w/children. One of the first in his generation (1950's) who believed and respected children as intelligent human beings and was against using physical punishment in any form. He did suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and self medicated w/alcohol as so many vets do.

Many "Black Sheep" are very troubled teens and young adults. Some just think outside the family value box. I was a rebel against anything to do with order. Home, school, the law, even my peers were not my friends as they followed the rules.Once I grew up,I quit using drugs and alcohol .Got a real job, raised a family of my own,and went on to lead a productive life. My family still calls me the Black Sheep as I was always a leader, never a follower.I don't mind a bit -everyone knows I'm a total different person now.Better values and a more moral person.

Oui. Moi.

I am reluctant to share details of a misspent youth. Suffice it to say that I realized I needed to get away from my family in order to grow up.

That worked, and ever after I have been an agreeable, productive, hard-working, compassionate person.

I am very aware of what my shortcomings were and have successfully reversed them. I was on good terms with my parents when they died. I love my siblings and I have no idea how they feel about me. If they still consider me a black sheep, that's their problem, not mine.

There was a guy in Rome who was a consumate womanizer and drunkard. His mother worried about him and prayed every day that he would finally get his act together and straighten out his life. Her prayers were answered. He has a town named after him in Florida: Saint Augustine. She has a town in California named after her: Santa Monica.
