I remember he was a racist but I don't remember that statement. It does brings up a pet peeve of mine. Lawns and golf courses. If the resources used for lawns and golf courses in the US were turned to food production we could end world hunger. Ten times more pesticides per acre are used on them than on crop land. I don't golf, but why must golf courses be green? The first and most famous, 'St. Andrews' is one big sand trap. Americans are only 10% of the world population, yet we consume 25% of the worlds resources. And we wonder why the rest of the world hates us. RScott

No, but I remember the song that says:
"Leave a bushel in your headgerow. Its just an offering to the May Queen." May Queen being the goddess of fertility.

Mch healthyer for the planet , the crops, your headspace, to have some hedgerows for the birds and animals. The birds that eat the pest incects, and the animals that eat the mice and rats and such.

Industrialized Agriculture is a BIG downfall of western culture.

And what about feeding the poor by letting them harvest the leftovers after the harvest? That is very old law (O.T.).
