I heard this on the news in passing, and wonder if its a joke, because it sounds like something Larry the Cable Guy would come up with. If anyone knows, please inform me. I would not want to partake, and anyhow the only road kill around here are dead skunks.

Most states in the midwest (not sure about the rest of the country) allow private citizens to collect roadkill.

At my police department, dispatch has a list of people willing to come out and remove dead deer that are hit by cars. They get a deer to do god knows what with. And the city saves money on removal. I like it.

There was a lady on TV that has a restaurant that serves road kill. She was on "What's My Line".Think that's the one that you guess what kind of work they do. She even brought in something for the panel to sample. Don't know if any of them did though. Know I wouldn't. She said it really is road kill that she uses.

It's not illegal to pick up an animal carcass but you might get in trouble if it's a game animal like a deer or bear and a ranger catches you hauling it without the proper tags. How do they know you're not the one who ran it down?

There are no laws prohibiting the picking up and eating of roadkill anywhere. That a law was passed permitting it is someones joke.

Why would picking up road kill be illegal? Though thoroughly disgusting it doesn't seem like an illegal action.

Crimes are not tolerated by government. Maybe, the irregularities were products of bad publicity.

Well I don't know who would be around to stop you from dragging home some roadkill and fixing it for dinner.
