USA uses is superpower status to exploit the natural resources of third world countries by not giving aid in form of military hardware or financial loans from US controlled banks.

No other superpower government has provided third world countries with more food, training in agriculture, medical supplies, technology in creating clean water, and general education.
However, many of the corporations and businesses of superpower nations have done taken advantage of third world populations. The stockholders of these corporations are more interested in profits than general welfare of the people. For example, the Dominican Republic has can the dumping ground for the world's "recycling" of vehicle batteries--polluting the water and air in the country.
I believe our government really does not abuse its power on most third world countries as much as other superpowers.
I believe our corporations create abuse of their economical power even in superpower countries like China. Most of the leaders of third world countries and even China have encouraged and welcomed this abuse in order to grain technology and wealth for the ruling party.
And we all are to blame, we enjoy low prices for clothing, imported food, electronic goods and etc.
Look at computers we all currently use. With the cheap labor and low pollution standards of these countries, we would not be enjoying the benefits low priced ipods, computers, flat screen televisions, and etc.

I just got back from a conference where the keynote speaker was a man from Nigeria who spoke to us about the effects of the multinational oil corporation who came to their country looking for a resource to harvest.

It was a pretty sad story.

The U.S. has a varied track record. We "loan" these countries great sums of money and then forgive them their debt. We have overthrown several countries just to see if we could. We have given great aid in times of natural disaster and, we have supported many a puppet regime -- usually, in the end, it blows up in our faces. Name one major (superpower) country that has done better. England? France? Germany? Russia? China? We have made mistakes, yes. But our good has outweighed the bad by far.

This has been true since America's British ancestors were trying to "civilize" as much of the world as possible. Things won't get better until Armageddon.
