What di you think?

It was one of the best movies, Al Pacino (always a favourite of mine), played this part in a highly distinctive and thought provoking way.

Yes! Simply loved this movie, as I adore movies that 'teach' in subtle ways. Pacino and the young man learned from each other, grew within themselves and 'gave back' that knowledge. Pacino's speech near the end before the school body and before the 'jury' was awesome. The intermittent humor was priceless and the touch of pain of his existence was unparalled...A once in a lifetime actor who did it again!

I'm the wrong person to answer this one, since anything Pacino does is superb...even bad scripts, whatever... he's pure gold genius in my book. In this movie, driving blind was a gorgeous riff, and the visit to his awful family was great theater and totally satisfying....anyone who's played the 'black sheep' role has got to love this part. The whole film was a delight...tango, school confrontation, the lot!

I'm not a major fan, but I recognize his great acting using a
very natural personna. I thought his characterization was
humorous, but what was that word or sound he'd make that
drove me crazy by the end? Whoooo Ahhhh? Once was
enough, and he kept saying it often. LOL.
Oh, I never heard he did Shakespeare. I'd like to hear how
he sounds doing a character from a play. I can't picture him
speaking with an olde English dialogue.

My son is a sometimes actor/filmmaker and is really adamant about good movies and bad ones.

While he was in school, you couldn't make a comment about a movie that he didn't have a comeback, until this movie. He was totally quiet. I got a big, big chuckle from this. I literally made him sit down right then and watch the movie.

Guess what, it's one of his all time favorites now.

Lesson: Don't try to second guess Mom, she'll get ya every time!

Lt. Col. Frank Slade:
Out of order, I show you out of order. You don't know what out of order is, Mr. Trask. I'd show you, but I'm too old, I'm too tired, I'm too f*ckin' blind. If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place! Out of order? Who the hell do you think you're talkin' to? I've been around, you know? There was a time I could see. And I have seen. Boys like these, younger than these, their arms torn out, their legs ripped off. But there isn't nothin' like the sight of an amputated spirit. There is no prosthetic for that. You think you're merely sending this splendid foot soldier back home to Oregon with his tail between his legs, but I say you are... executin' his soul! And why? Because he's not a Bairdman. Bairdmen. You hurt this boy, you're gonna be Baird bums, the lot of ya. And Harry, Jimmy, Trent, wherever you are out there, F*CK YOU TOO!

Cant beat logic like that!

I just can't get past that accent he used. Same thing with Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump. How can you tell the acting is good when their accent is so bizarre? Forrest Gump I though was great, but the acting...I just don't know. I saw Scent of a Woman but it doesn't stick in my mind, even though Al Pacino is nice to look at.

Am I alone with this accent hangup?

excellent movie, and his Argentine tango was pretty good. That is a very difficult dance to do. His closing argument at the school was great...good writing and Pacino is one of the best.
