ambul=walk, move (root)
ist=one who (suffix)

It is a compound word. Somna means sleep, ambulate means walk. And that's what a somnambulist does - sleep walks. The suffix is 'ist', which means 'one who performs a designated act' so the somnabulist is the one who sleep walks.
