was in power at the time?Ontario is having elections in Oct. and one of the concerns is the proposal of government funding to faith based schools.

I have issues with the fact that the Lord's Prayer was removed from public schools so it would not be offensive to those who were not Christian.I have come to believe in the separation of church and state.It offends me that now the government feels it is politically correct to fund faith based schools after the politicians did everything but rewrite history to appease a few. I think that the politicians should decide which side of the fence they stand on, not straddle the fence begging for votes.

In 1988, the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled that requiring the use of the Lord's Prayer in opening exercises in public schools offended Section 2(a) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Progressive Conservatives won the majority in 1984 and maintained it after the 1988 elections.

i don't know when prayer was banished from schools in canada, but i'm sure the political party responsible would be the equivalent of the u.s.'s democrats (i.e. liberals, left wing kooks). you see, we have to make sure that God's name is not mentioned in any way, shape, or form inside of a public school. you know, to make sure nobody is offended. but if you want to teach kids that it's perfectly ok to stick your penis up another boys ****, well that's required education without any consideration for offending anyone.
