Yes. In the early 1940's coins were made to their honor. I know some of them. My grandfather was a collector and I clearly remember seeing them, not in his possession but in an exhibition:
-The first African American on an American currency was Booker T. Washington in 1946. On one side it shows his face and on the other a memorial constructed to his honor as one of our greatest educators.
-Also a two headed coin shows Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver. Besides the faces, also shows the small slavery place where Booker T. was born. This particular coin was again in production and in use from 1951 through 1954. The last time The Mint Organization honored the production of this coin was in 1982.
-Notes were also produced in Chicago, Ill, in the 1980's showing the different faces of African Americans such as Frederick Douglass, born in slavery in Maryland, 1818.
Did you know that currency and postal stamps were created in many countries around the world to honor Martin Luther King Jr? Something to think about, don't it?

No. There are some Native Americans that have appeared on coins before, but no African Americans.

Yes. The first was in 1946. It featured Booker T. Washington on a half dollar coin.

There are others but if you aren't a collector you aren't going hear about it.

the "coin" referred to by the other person about Booker T Washington, is a COMMEMORATIVE, not a coin for general circulation. It does have a value, but you just cannot spend it.

No.
Why would you expect it from the United States?
If there is then they aren't advertising it now are they?
