My teacher has asked me to interview women who have had childbirth with drugs and without drugs to see the difference in the pain. If you could give me just a few senteances of how you felt during childbirth, that would be great thank you.

30 no drugs twice and drugs with my last one i would rate it a 25. drugs just knock the edge off of the pain. it gets worse with every kid. but it's all worth it. good luck.

I had induced labor both times, pain from contractions was a 10. The first time my baby went into distress after 15 hours of labor and I had an emergency caesarean with general anesthesia.

The second time my cervix wouldn't dilate after 20 hours of labor so I had an epidural for the caesarean.

Post operative pain from caesareans is a 10 for the first week, then decreases slowly over a period of 8 weeks.

I had wanted to have more children but, would have had to have caesareans with them and there is no way in hell I wanted to go through that agony again.

Childbirth is unique for every new and former mother. My personal experience 11 years ago with my son was high risk, and all the prodding and poking the doctors did to me was more uncomfortable than the actual epidural(pain reliever) or the IV that was ran through my arm. Once I was numb, everything went well but the actual pain of getting an epidural was a 10 and then I was fine.

My own personal opinion, labor feels like the worst period cramps you can imagine ... on a scale 1 -10 ill say a 20. I had a terrible time with the pain management, no drugs and they had to induce me which ive heard makes labor worse, im 7 months pregnant with my second child and im planning on having an epidural this time, maybe i can enjoy the birthing process a little more. I know you have heard it a million times that once the baby is born you forget the pain, but its soo true, as soon as you see that babys face the pain is gone!

I am 19, 5'1", 108 lbs.(pre-pregnancy). I had both of my daughters natural. My first, i was in labor for 4 hours, and had a pain reliever through my IV. NO EPIDURAL! Now that I think about it, it wasnt so bad. I would rate it, "8". With my second I was in labor for about 1 hour. My doctor was about 45 minutes away, so I was late for ANY pain reliever! It was purdy painful. Within 15 minutes, she was out! I would rate that birth, a "9". It's the contractions that hurt, so bad I didnt even feel when they came out. I am now 36 weeks pregnant with #3, and I will NOT get an epidural! Those were my experiences, got any more questions send me an email. kristinisjust2sweet4u@yahoo.com

well I went with no drugs (not by choice) and it wasnt really that bad, I would say the pain was a 6 or a 7, my labor wasnt very long 3 hours, I loved giving birth because when it's over you forget all of the pain and just think about the baby.. I would do it again in a heart beat and with no drugs... it's healthyer for the baby

Without drugs 8-10

With Epidural 2. It makes it difficult to push as stated in one of the above answers. Since, you can't feel the lower half of your body very well.

I felt as if I was being hit with a sledge hammer on my spine. Over and over. It was one of the worst experiences of my life until the epidural in the first labor and the spinal for the c-section in the second. I had back labor both times. Seriously, I was traumatized by labor. It's so bad. I recommend the epidural.

But, back labor hits you in the nerves of your back. So, it is likely different from other people's experiences. Maybe not after reading the above.

I had an epidural,so it wasn't bad at all. After they gave me the shot I was just hanging out watching tv. So with drugs,it was like a 1. But they had to lower the epidural because I wasn't pushing hard enough(because I felt no pain),so after they lowered it,I'd say it was like a 7. It's DEFINATELY not as bad as some people say it is!

I was in so much pain for so long I threw up and could not take it any more the pain medicine helped a bit , I should have agreed to it but then I had an epidural and it left me so numb I could not push right. Oh yeah and 10.10 being the worst.

No pain meds at all - I would rate it only about a 5, totally bearable. My period cramps were way worse, and I once sprained my knee - that was unbearable.

After 24 hours of all natural labor - I ended up needing a c-section because the baby was stuck. The pain and discomfort post c-section was about an 8 (still did not take the pain meds because I did not want to pass them to the baby).
