Indian opposition is not letting Congress go ahead with US-Indo N-Deal since the deal is not in national interest but there are USD150 billion worth of contracts for making nuclear power plants in India at stake. The big business lobby in US has pushed their Govt. to sign this deal purely to serve their economic interests. Companies like GE are the stake holders in this big game. India can be put to ransom once these nuclear power plants are installed because US can always arm-twist India by ceasing the supply of enriched Uranium to India if India decides to conduct any nuclear tests in future. So now you decide for yourself if this deal is really in India's interest or it will serve the interst of US big business.

It is not the opposition but Congress' own coalition partner that is proving a stumbling block as far as the Indo-US nuclear deal is concerned. The reason is too far to look behind

For the communists(there are at least seven known
factions in existence)any thing American is
anathema.When the world over communism
is off the map,our champions are clinging on.
To me it appears that these guys who control
many trade unions across the country, are in it
for the moolah, despite their protestations that
they have the interest of the masses at heart
in their universal struggle against capitalism. If
only one were to seriously look into the lifestyle
of these so-called saviors of the downtrodden
masses, their masks would come off to reveal their true nature.
These worthies have no serious points of consideration in their opposition to the Indo-Us deal.Their threat is empty and their saber rattling is just that and nothing more.It is high time that the Congress puts an end to this farcical drama and calls the bluff of the reds.
Let them be told in blunt terms viz.PUT UP OR
SHUT UP.The communists lack the guts to
go ahead with their threat to pull down the government. And even if they did and force an election on the masses they would get such a fitting reply that they would never rise again.

the Left is supporting UPA at the centre but have to face Congress at the States namely Kerala& WB. The communists have posed that it fight class and not the castes unlike in many parts of this country. in this situation any thing good for the country for which credit can be directly atttributed to the Congress shall have far reaching consequences on the hearts and minds of Middle Class of WB. it will have adverse effect in different way in Kerala.
The Communist can ill afford this at this crucial juncture when it has the max No of MPs possible. The do not want be seen to be on the side of the communal forces alligned with NDA nor can associate with casteist parties ( mainly because the top echlon of the party is soaked with brahmin first ).
they have no option to find a foreign hand or nuke pact- it does not matter whether nuke deal is the best in this situation.
Lekt will be crushed in forth coming gen election if and only if congress goes with the nuke deal and get out of it's Neheru/Gandhi dynasty and Drop RAHUL now.

The opposition has a valid objection.Even though the 123 agreement appears to be good, the Hyde Act, which governs it, would impel us to toe the line of USA and NOT let us have an independent policy on any thing!
More than India, US is in need of India signing the agreement.
Why not, then, GOI try to secure firm assurances first.
As regards the Left parties are concerned,
they should realise their social responsibility
and avoid talk of "withdrawing support" at this juncture.

Only ruling upa partner, the communist block is opposing;as they are self-proclaimed foster organisations of China and Russia, they need to oppose US, the capitalist.
Other opposition factors are academic and official. Some amendments are the expectations from them.
Congress going ahead gives sonia, rahul, manmohan etc., opportunity to meddle in indian affairs along with US. chidambaram is looking for some opportunities to levy more taxes after this deal; that will give him the much used sadistic pleasure in harassing the population. All these not with standing communists' opposition, that will allow congress take revenge for any past, present and future harassment by communists. Congress will show to US that communists are being harassed. US will confer more boons to india out of joy.

The nuk pact with USA is of immence benifit to India. Wiith little cajoling BJP would support it. But it is imprudence on the part of ruling goverment not to approach BJP. In fact this whole negotiation was initiated by BJP government and is result of Jashwant-Talbot dialogues.

Any deal with US will be profitable to US not to India. It applies both to friendship as well as enmity. India will be a loser ultimately.

Secondly if US supplies N-materials they will guide you where to use them and finish them.

India will continue to remain as a buyer wasting valuable resources in an unproductive defense deal, and making more enemies.
