I have a nagging feeling that I need to be single to concentrate on my own life. Have you ever felt this way & did you leave the relationship you were in? I feel like I am being terribly selfish & yet the feeling is always with me to leave.

I left a relationship after 7 years because I not only needed time for myself, but I needed to surive. Selfish has nothng to do with "getting your sh*&" together. Selfish is doing things that don't take into account how that action affects those around you. If you are with someone that is not right for you, leave. They will get over it and so will you. That is the beauty of life is - the sun always sets, the sun always rises. New beginnings.

Yes I have and it was the best thing I ever did. It is not selfish to think of your own feelings and what you want. Obviously there is something wrong if you feel so uncomfortable it is nagging you every day. One thing you can do is suggest a separation--lots of times both partners find they needed the space. If you try it and it doesn't work for you, what have you lost? What has your partner lost? At least you gave it a chance, right?
Good luck.

Yes I have and I certainly don't regret it. If you are feeling that way you should break it off - it will be hard, but everyone deserves someone who TRULY wants to be with them without a doubt. You cannot give that to the person you are with right now, so it would be best for you to break it off. S/he may be angry at first, but will thank you in the long run. And most importantly, you'll be glad you did it.

yes i have done this before. actually my b/f and i both decided that we needed time to focus on ourselves. he is trying to finish his 2nd album, booking more clients and tours, he is really busy with his work and tries to stay very on top of the business he owns. myself on the other hand needed MORE work to do, i wanted to really try and get into the field i enjoy. after we broke up i kind of went on a spiritual cleansing type thing too... lots of meditating, reading, being out in nature and having time to myself to think or clear my thoughts. we were separated for 8 months. now we are back together and living together, and really i don't think things could get any better at this point. good luck to you, remember you have to take care of YOURSELF before you can take care of anyone else!! do what you gotta do.
