My picture is gone. What happened and why is it happening to so many people? How can I stop it?

I think it's part of the conspiracy !
First, Roswell.
Then, Kennedy and the magic bullet.
Then, Richard Simmons.
Now, the missing avatars, I'm starting to see a pattern here.
I think the end is near !

I assume you mean your avatar, correct? I think Yahoo is having some network difficulty. Stuff like this happens from time to time when they are making changes and whatnot.

i think you may have t upgrade to the latest version of flash on your machine. either that, or you may have to get a new avatar.

were the same, i've seen many user who i can't see their avatars, try to reupload it or change it :)

just re-upload it....the link expired or whatever, but that will fix the problem..
