your best bet is to wait until a large electrical store has a cut price sale on,good named brands of electrical appliances such as pc monitors can be sold with as much as £100.00p off the normal price
my monitor is philips 19" lcd monitor
sold for£299.99p and i bought it for £199.99p
in a sale at the store it was boxed not ex showroom or display or shop soiled ,just sold off cheaper to make way for newer updated models, which in technology happens every other week~patience and window shopping will find you a really good bargain eventually

You may get one for free if you don't mind an older CRT type. Get on to your local freecycle group and ask for one. I've seen monitors go for nothing. See yahoo groups.
