what has Christianity added to the USA? laws? policy? social norms?

Well, without Christianity, you can kiss schools, hospitals, and orphanges goodbye. Much of these practices were established by Christian monestaries.

How about the idea of welfare, or that sometimes people become poor for reasons that having nothing to do with their fault or their choices, and thus need some protection.

How about the keen understanding of how important our own ability to maintain the choice of what we believe is to us, that we would never want to impose that on anyone else, and thus the seperation of church and state, so that state can never dictate to us our beliefs.

Or how about the general idea that each individual has responsibilities to the community that supercede their own individual desires (obviously non-religious people have practiced this!) and that their faith helps keep them working for the greater good of their communities over and above their own needs and wants?

It's constitutionally ILLEGAL to make any laws or policies with any direct connection to one particular religion. Social norm is not public policy.
