And if so... what is acceptable.
If not explain why?

I have 4 children and I have spanked them. Nothing excessive. I have used other forms of correction too. Each child is different. What would work with one may not work with the other. No one should hit a child in anger.

Well it works. I look at some of the children growing up now and think about the discipline they encounter such as time outs, taking away tv/video games...etc. If you don't have something in the form of discipline they are somewhat afraid of I don't think it is very effective. So I think spanking of some sort needs to be put back into play with parenting. Lets see what others think. =)

Heck yea! But just simple, old fashioned, belt across the butt spankings. Nothing excessive. Maybe a pop on the arm or leg sometimes. I'm more of a talker when it comes to discipline. A lot of people shouldn't spank their children because they don't understand what too much is. I've seen some kids take hits from their parents that would rattle me.

not really, the children I watch do not get physical discipline and they are pretty good kids. I use time out sparingly as well. You just need to know how to talk to them.

On occasion, usually after the third warning. But now they are very good at counting UP to ThREE. I try not to let it go that far...Obey after the first warning or the wood spoon will get em.

The Bible says not to spare the rod. So yes, spanking is acceptable. Abuse is not.

Only a light tap on the hand of toddlers, saying no, nothing beyond that.

yes i do.i spank my child when it's appropriate.but i also talk to him afterwards and explain to him why this had to happen.no my child does not get a beat down.and before that happens,i check myself and step back because he is my world and i don't want him to be scared of me but i do want him to respect me as his mother who feed, clothes, and takes care of him.
