I have a 302 roller lifter block w/ an aftermarket FR E303 cam. Do I use the cam firing order(13726548) or a 302 order? Also, Does it matter where number 1 is on the rotor? Can I just pick a post and use it as number 1? I have a Mallory SS comp distributor and it does not have number 1 marked. I am really confused, but I can't afford a real mechanic...

the order on a 302 is 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8 the left bank is on the left as you look into the engine comp. from the front of car. The left bank is numbered 1 2 3 4 the right is 5 6 7 8 front to back. when the distributor is properly installed put the # 1 cyl. on top dead center, compression stroke, the rotor will point to #1 cyl. position on cap.

Ford changed the firing order on the 302s in 1982 to be the same as the 351w which is 13726548.

As long as the wires are in that order it doesn't matter just make sure you know which way the distributor turns.I would think you would use the 302 firing order.

you use the same firing order for the 302,changing things on it don't change the firing order, and yes it does mater where no-1 is at,it must be at top dead center on no-1 compression stroke, with the button pointing at no-1 on the cap, good luck.
