Having been through this, and it was a very rough time for me and everyone around me, consider doing aerobic exercise. I started walking and gradually did a walk/jog and eventually jogging. That actually helped to calm me down a lot. I'm thinking of the "runner's high". It really does exist but takes a while for it finally to kick in. I'm not talking about fast, but I am talking about keeping it up for 1/2 hour or more. I think I was doing about an hour when I really felt the difference.

I don't want to give my age but I had a hyster several years ago and they finally put me on a very low dose estrogen patch (no ovaries). I swear by a: no alcohol, b: Vitamin
E - start with 800 iu's daily and drop to 400 after a week or so. It's unbelievable how it calms the nerves and stops the flashes. Get the D alpha tocopheral, the other stuff doesn't work as well. Also get calcium and magnesium supplements, GNC/Rite Aid sells them in one pill. There's something about it nutritionally that's like nature's tranquilizers, it even helps with sleep. When I don't take these 2 vitamins, even with the low dose patch, I am edgy, shakey, can't sleep, and I get a severe wave of nausea right before a flash. If I take antibiotics I have to up the dose by one or else I still feel edgy and flash. Good Luck from someone who had more nighgowns than I could count because I was changing them 2-3 times during the night.

I wish I could tell you it's gonna be over soon but from what I've experienced there is no one fits all solution. you will have to try all these recommendations above and find the one that work for you.
you will have some kind of relief over time and it's gonna get worse with something else but overall you will adapt and cope. overall for me I've learned that the placebo effect is most effective with all the menopause symptoms for other is something totally different... Good luck! you're entering a new phase in your life.

Try the p.m. Estroven-Extra Strength it might help you fall asleep faster and feel better in the morning I drink Silk soy-milk vanilla flavor one cup in the morning and one in the evening. I find it gives me energy. I also brisk walk for at least 30 minutes every other day. There is an herbal tea that helps my nerves "Seven Blossoms" you can buy it at Walmart, that you can drink before retiring..it's good for nerves. Hope this helps and I hope you feel better.

SEE YOUR GYN, DUMP THE SELF MEDICATING HERBAL CRAP, UNLESS YOUR DR. SAYS OK. sorry about yelling, did not notice I hit lock. If your only health care is a clinic then talk to some one there. you may be eligible for health coverage for some of this, call your county office of aging, or contact aarp. good luck, i can recommend vitamin E for hot flashes, drink water, lots of it, exercise to help maintainer those nice pheromones, something as easy as walking can help. go to the public library and find some books on holistic health...the library not the Internet. good luck, and start right now, with a glass of water.
