If you've ever watched even a brief moment of the Maury show, you'll notice that words are constantly being bleeped out. But what's more interesting is that many don't appear to be offensive words! What's the deal?

They also have to bleep out any names the "guests" might utter if that person didn't sign a release to use their name. This is in addition to what the 2 answerers above me already said.

Offensive is in the eye of the censor. I watched an old tv show the other day and they bleeped the word black from so much of the dialogue-you could hardly tell what was being said. It was an old favorite of mine and I didnt understand how the word black became offensive.It's probably the same on the Maury show. Political correctness has reached an all time high.

If it's not offensive words uttered by the guests or the audience (usually in disgust, shock or horror,) then they'll bleep out a name of a guilty party mentioned to keep that identity a secret.

a lot of times people in the audience yell out vulgar stuff and they have to bleep it.
