if your son is between 4-12 a ds is better other wise a psp
a ds has more kid friendly games but a psp has better graphics but little kids wont care if it has good graphics

In terms of what it can do, the PSP beats the DS hands down. It has better graphics, you can listen to music, watch videos. As long as you have the $$$ to keep it current.
Unfortunately, the DS doesn't rely on that to beat the PSP in games and fun factors. DS has more games to choose from.

They play different genres of games. Nintendo DS is more geared to kids and has many interesting adventures and puzzle games. PSP is more of a teen-adult system imo with more advanced games for the most part such as role playing games.

I think Nintendo DS is better. I love mine! If its for your son the Nintendo DS has more kid friendly games.

A DS is better for smaller kids because of the games,but if your kid likes ar and other games simmillar,the PSP is much better.
