on the day after tomorrow, which by the way is on right now, how come the eye of the storm is much more dangerous than the other part? (the eye of the storm is happening right now for anybody who is watching, for those who have seen it though should know what I'm talking about. The eye is the clear sky part with clouds surrounding it that makes everything freeze up) anyways..... I don't understand why it's more dangerous.

The reason the air is so much colder is because the air is sinking in the center. In centers of hurricanes the air is sinking in the eye thus causing air from higher elevations to reach the ground.

They claim that the air is sinking down from the stratosphere, which is the next level of the atmosphere and that air would probably do something along that sorts but nobody knows for sure.

This is an unrealistic thing though because if air would come down from that high up it would end up compressing and due to the compression would be heated up so this event will never happen. They claim in the movie that the air is moving downward so fast that the air does not have time to compress. Although very cool it is very unrealistic.

It's not the eye of the storm but the eye wall, that is most dangerous, The eye itself, is the most calmest part of the interior part of the storm, The eye wall contains the nastiest weather managable and is the most destructive part of the hurricane

The eye of the storm is the calmest part, but it is deceiving, as the strongest part of such a storm is the ring of convection that encircles the eye.

That being said, this movie is a far cry from reality, especially with it's depiction of the effects of such a storm.

Because of one doesn't know when the eye of the storm ends. In other words if one is outside in the eye of the storm and all of a sudden, and I mean in the next second, the storm kicks back into gear, catching that person by surprise

Technically it's actually the safest part

HOWEVER

There are probably more deaths caused due to the eye, because people who don't understand how hurricanes/tornadoes work think it's over and leave shelter.

They then get hit by the back edge of the storm when it comes in.

The eye of the storm is where the power of the vortex begins. When you enter the eye of the storm, it may seem as calm, but you wont be save, for flying objects will strike at any moment.

the eye is the *calmest* part but people are most at risk since unless they can fly like birds the other side of the storm is about to come...
