I guess that it could mean the net karmic load you bring into your life each time you are born. The idea is to balance it all out during this life time and lighten your karmic load by performing a lot of good deeds and by having positive thoughts and feelings (while avoiding negative ones). Then hopefully in your next incarnation you will begin at a higher level with less karmic burden.

Karma is more or less the sum of your good & bad behavior.

The Eastern concept of karmic BURDEN is pretty much the Western concept of sin.

Christianity however is the personification of Buddhism.

So for Christians good and bad behavior is rewarded or punished by God.

Buddhists believe the interaction of one's karma with the universe causes life to reward or punish. Kind of a cosmic version of "What goes around, comes around."

Curiously enought both religions have a fudge factor to explain why bad things happen to good people. Buddhism says you may be paying off a karmic burden from a past life, & Christianity says God may be testing you, but don't worry it will all be sorted out at the judgement.

Karma- simplified- it's the idea that what goes around comes around.

Burden- The thing for which you are responsible

Karmic Burden- the responsibility, good or bad, you must bear for the actions/deeds in which you have paticipated.

I would not describe it as a burden. I would just say karma.

How our life is lived in this life produces present karma. This karma is then carried over to the next life which creates the future karma.

Hi Rena,It is important not to be burdened, with earthly sins or mistakes.so not to let these emotions take control, and not to condemn or starve oneself from eternal life, or peace. To repent to allow the load to lighten. This is all to do with reflecting good or bad onto others and in return onto ourselves. To lessen the sins of everyone involved. To release pressure from the circumstances. And to move on with a clearer conscious.

I guess it's seeing more to our actions than meet the eye; All the consequences involved and the seeds that we are sewing with our immediate seemingly casual actions.
