What was so great about the Apple II?

What was set the Apple II away from other computers of its time? Explain please!

The Apple II was revolutionary because it featured the first GUI, or color desktop. Its predecessors (ancestors) only had command line.

it was cheap, and replacing the hardware was easy, because it wasnt made souly for the apple II. ironically apple chose to stop using the nature of their success.
