No, President Bush didn't cheat to win. That's a pack of lies.
There was a problem with the vote count in a couple of Florida counties. They had this balot that you were supposed to poke a hole through the slot corresponding to the name next to the hole. Well, some people punched two holes, invalidating the vote or they didn't push it through the paper enough. They were called "Hanging Chads". Well there was a committee that was closely examining every ballot. This would take months. There is a set time table for the President to take office. The Supreme court stopped the
hanging chad hunt, when they did, President Bush was still ahead.
The Democrats have always maintained that there was an election fraud but it is clearly a case of sour grapes.

The fact is, we'll never know who won Florida. The difference in the vote total was within the margin of error of the system, so there's no way of telling.

Now, there's little doubt in my mind that the odd ballots in Palm Beach County meant that more people in Florida wanted to vote for Gore than for Bush. But it didn't work out that way, and was thrown into the courts.

The Supreme Court probably didn't want to have anything to do with the issue, so it threw it back in the state's hands and ran in the other direction. Since the Republicans had control over the counting steps in Florida, it had the edge.

In a perfect world, we would have had a do-over.

I am a firm believer that it does no good to rehash the past; what's done is done, no matter what happened. It was so long ago! Wouldn't it be a better idea to focus on the next election? Perhaps this is very idealistic, but I wish that this country could pull together and remember that the Civil War ended years ago. There is so much focus on partisan politics in this country that it makes me sick. I do have a party affiliation, but I always ask who is doing or who appears to have what it takes to do the best job for all of the people, not just a select group of people. I am not just talking about the presidency. I am talking about any public office. Many people stick themselves in a niche and go to battle without even knowing squat about the real issues that are involved. What does it matter now? The thing that really bothered me is that the whole issue dragged out for so long leaving our country in a very vulnerable state when we needed stability so desperately. It was all about politics and winning; not about the people. I think that we should put this "dead horse" in its grave and move on to the issues at hand. A new presidential election is coming up next year. We have to move on and concentrate on 2008. That is the absolute fact!

Actually, it was the opposite. The only reason that the Supreme Court needed to be involved was due to the Democrats successfully preventing overseas active duty military members from having their votes counted. Post election audits showed that had these been counted, there would have been no basis for calling for a recount. It was well known that military voters were unhappy with anything associated with Clinton after eight years of his war against the military and indeed, more then 80% voted for soon to be President George Bush.

Bush did not cheat. recount after recount showed Bush won florida and even after the recounts were done independent news papers like the New york times did a recount in the spring of 2001 and found Bush won the state. Get over the 2000 election because Bush won that election and the 2004 election.

Election fraud has occured in just about every presidential campaign, typically on both sides. Long ago, Kennedy cheated in Chicago.

However, the extent of the fraud was amazing in the Bush election. The media doesn't seem to be willing to expose the truth.

Anyone who thinks the elections have been above board is naive or badly informed.

This is simply getting very old! The mail in ballots that got tossed were from the military, who mostly voted conservative. The counties where the Gore campaign wanted recount after recount would not have had enough votes to give the man the majority needed to carry the state. The outcome had nothing to do with Jeb, GW or anyone else in the family!

God you people are ignorant.

No, Al Gore NEVER led in Florida. NEVER. It was Gore who wanted to cheat and change the playing field so that he could win the election. George Bush is the THIRD president to win the electoral vote but not win the popular vote.

Wow, can't you lefties get over this silly Bush Derangement Syndrome.

JUST GET OVER IT. Geez.
