In my opinion the worst would definitely be George W. Bush. I used to think that Jimmy Carter was the worst, but now I think Bush has surpassed him for that title. For best it would be a tie between John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.

John F. Kennedy's accomplishments were many.
JFK increased minimum wage, assisted with early urban renewal, got Americans better Social Security benefits, created the Peace Corps, used executive orders to help the civil rights movement, visited NASA and helped our country develop the space program we have today, helped ratify the 23rd amendment, was forced to make tough decisions about Viet Nam, and finally, in the end, was assassinated because (in my opinion) he was starting to balk at the orders of the underlying powers. (See E. Howard Hunt's deathbed talks on YouTube)
Most of his legislation did not pass until after his death, which gave hiim less time to accumulate and claim presidential actions.

George Herbert Walker Bush - the worst President ever. Set us up for the very things that are happening today in our country. "..a New World Order..." George W. is just another patsy of his.
GHWB and his father and his father's father have always been behind the curtain, making things happen. His life is a twist of good tainted with bad. His 'service' to our country, questionable.
He even may have married the illegitimate daughter of Aleister Crowley, and created this thing we call president today. His Skull and Bones ties and his playground, the Bohemian Grove, make him the most sinister president ever.
When GHWB passes on of old age, things might change a little for the better. For now, we are stuck with this New World Order crap. Bush - Hrrummph!

When ever anyone answers "Kennedy" it's a sure sign they don't know much about history. Whether Kennedy would have been great or just an also-ran will never be known. His administration was simply too short.

In my lifetime Jimmy Carter was the worst president and Reagan was the best.

JFK was so romanticize it's hard to separate his deeds from his Camelot image, but he did save us from nuclear war with Cuba. LBJ did pass civil rights over the objection of most of the south but he also continued and lied to us about the Vietnam war. Nixon behavior speaks for it's self. I think that George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and FDR would all be in the top three. I do agree that W has to be the most to divide this country, and at the same time selling out the country to his wealthy friends, and taking us to a war of choice, so he will go down in history as the worse president.
For a man that was given from birth power, wealth, quality education, and then as a man a loving smart wife, and the presidency from his daddy supreme court, he has done little to show for all the gifts that were given to him, so for me W is the worse and history will prove me right

T-Monster, you remember Lincoln

I Know the worst was LBJ. I lived then, my brother died for him and Robert McNamara. JFK is just a foot note. Eisenhower was totally useless also. I liked Clinton and Reagan. Bush is far from the worst that I remember. And I remember back to Truman.

The best would definitely be Jimmy Carter. He actually tried peace, unlike the ones after him who thought spreading a republic would be better. Americans hate him because he wasn't violent and because of the hostage situation. The hostages committed a crime in Iran, so they deserved a punishment.

The worst would be Reagan. He craved a nuclear war with the USSR and was an imperialist. Glad he's dead.
