When i turn my kenmore water heat past "Hot" to "A" or "B" the pressure drainage runs water almost constantly. I am guessing that the pressure value is bad but don't know for sure. Just wondering if someone did know about it then i.

Thanks,

Brad

TURN OFF THE WATER HEATER AND CALL A PLUMBER RIGHT NOW!
The TPR valve is designed to discharge if either the temperature or pressure in the the tank gets to high. This can be a VERY dangerous condition and should be addressed IMMEDIATELY!
If it is a bad valve, you are lucky and its an easy fix. If you ignore it and your water heater ends up through your roof and lands 4 doors down in a yard you'll wish you would have just called a plumber RIGHT NOW!

Chances are the TP valve is bad. Also could be that the tank is so full of sediment that the water at the bottom of the sediment actually boils as it is heated and then the steam rises to the top of the tank and causes the TP valve to trigger a release. If the tank goes 'snap crackle pop' while heating, its full of sediment and needs a good flush. If not the TP valve is shot and needs replaced.

If you called me, I would let the pressure out through that very valve after turning everything off. Then I would change the valve, start everything up again and see what happens.

If everything is O.K. then I would give you a bill for about $125.00 plus material.

It could be that the water is getting too hot (steam in the tank). Try changing the thermostat.
