I do not believe the USA amoral obligations.
I do believe the USA has moral obligations.
amoral is a word meaning the opposite of moral
so for example pedophiles and rapist motives are amoral
we have obligations for several reasons
persons of most religions are taught by their religions that we have obligation to help our fellow human beings, to give back to society as partial thanks for the benefits that have been bestowed upon us. Even athiests, and rational secularists, have codes of ethics with similar teachings
if we want to put a stop to illegal invasion of our territory then the most effective way is to help the nations the people are coming from so they are not so desperate to leave
if we want to put a stop to the terrorism directed against our international interests, then an effective way is to do something about the reasons why other people hate us or are envious of us
Do you know what child soldiers are?
This is an insult to anyone's religious beliefs.
It is an abomination that we should try to put a stop to
Do you know what child slavery is?
Did you know that it exists all over the world?
Are you familiar with child labor laws in USA?
Do you agree in principle that children should have an opportunity to enjoy growing up, have access to an education, before they have to join the work force, that if they want to earn some money, they should have freedom of how long to work, should not have to work long on a school night?
Do you know that in some countries, as soon as a child can walk, understand instructions, carry stuff, they can become treated like a horse, a beast of burden
Does this offend your sensibilities?

The United States has only a moral obligation to do what it can for this country. As Ayn Rand once stated, If a country is so large they are a threat, we shouldn't sent them money to help them get bigger; if they are so small they are not a threat, why worry about them.
On the other hand, I think the people of this country should feel a moral right to do what they can for others both in this country and others as well, if they can.

I don't think that the United States has a moral obligation to assist the rest of the world. While I may think that something occurring in another country is wrong, I think it would be unethical to use my position of power to exploit another country and impose my ideas on that country, any more than I would want that country coming here and imposing its ideals on me.

I think we all have a moral obligation to help those in need. This goes exponentially more so of people of means, meaning being freedom and material resources.
It is all to easy to lay back and get caught up on ones own personal drama and forget the sufferings of the world. Besides by getting outside oneself you learn that your problems aren't aways so great and a spirit filled satisfaction takes the place of your worries when you are working with love for others.

I don't think America has a moral obligation to other countries to help them, but we do it out of goodness in our hearts. We have been a blessed country from the beginning. God gave us so much. Other countries have struggled to survive and the education of these people is very low. When we go in to help them I like to think we truly want to help and assist them to better lives.

I think we all need to help in other countries if we can.As far as moral obligation not sure about that one.Certainly not if it involves serious risk as in Iraq etc.The United States cannot take on the job of world policeman.

mmmmm .... no I don't think I have amoral obligation to assist other countries. We should if we can , but after the way so many of the other nations treat us , we could sure save some deficite and do more for our people here at home. some of our minorities live in deplorable conditions and we would have more money if it didn't go over seas. but, O guess I'm a selfish American , but I lost a lot of kin to set and keep this nation free and democratic. hope i don't get too many threats. and I'm one of those 3rd world country children how grew up Native American. thanks for listening to me rant.

Yes we do. We are the only superpower left. We produce more food then we can eat. We have so much, the poor in this country have problems. But nothing like the third world. You don't see pictures of American children with enlarged stomachs, bones showing through their skin, and flies all over there bodies. We have a duty to show the world how right makes might. Not might makes right.

Im sorry Florida girl but the U.S. never does anything for other countries out of the "goodness of their hearts". The U.S. helps other countries because our government is looking out for its "national interest". The U.S. has intervened in the politics of other countries to make sure events that are taken place within that specific country are to its liking. This is evident in all the countries we intervened in to"help"... Soveriegn nations like, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Rep., Chile, Argentina, The Congo, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Panama, Iran, Iraq, Loas, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lebanon, Peru...This is just the tip of the iceberg..
