Generation 6; The goofy looking ones they make now.
Gen. 5; 90s to 00s
Gen. 4; 1984- 90's
G. 3; 68-83 mako shark derivitive
G.2; 63-67 sting ray
That only leaves 1 more generation. It can't be 1953- 1962!, There is so much difference between the '53 ,with the blue flame 6+2 sp. powerglide , GM's attempt to make a Jaguar xk120, and the "62 there is no way a rational person would put both in the same generation. Maybe one could put the 53,54+55 in gen.1 and squeeze 56 to 62 into the same generation, but thery're at least 2 or 3. Perhaps they dont consider the 1st corvettes to be real corvettes, and count the '56 with the V8 and dual 4 barrels as the 1st corvette, and ignore the earlier ones? The guy who named the current generation G.6 must be some kind of a retard

Really, you go against the designers/manufacturer of the car to say you think there should be 7? There are 6 confirmed generations. They are currently manufacturing the C6 and the C7 is not expect to come out for 4 to 5 years. To . the C7 is not getting produced yet. Read what you referenced.

You may think the early years are different, but not the manufacturer.

Generation changes aren't based solely on outward appearance changes, but as a result of platform changes. It takes a redesign of the overall platform (suspension geometry, framing, etc) which in turn effects the outward appearance. The actual generations are considered to be:

Gen 1 (53-62), Gen 2 (63-67), Gen 3 (68-82), Gen 4 (83-96), Gen 5 (97-04), Gen 6 (05-09), Gen 7 (10-??).

Back in the 50s they didn't have generations of American cars. They had an annual model change, the concept was a new generation every year. The 1st generation is any Corvette with a solid axle. This may be 2,3 or4 generations in reality, but so many idiots believe this nonsense is true that it has become the truth.

The people that named it the C6 are THE PEOPLE THAT DESIGNED THE FREAKIN CAR. Do you really think you know their product better than them? Seriously?
