I just came back from the hospital where I had a catheter inserted into my Penis. Now when I came and went to pee, it felt like razor blades shooting out. So I immediatly held it in. Is there anyway to ease his pain, or do I just have to live with it and pee.

There's many doctors that don't know what they're doing. I've had many catheters. I recently had a urologist place a catheter in me in her doctor's office to pump my bladder, when I told her my bladder was empty. The catheter was taken out in minutes, but caused leaking of blood and feeling like razors when I urinate. The only problem is I went unto urologist because my urination system was blocked. The pain can go away in time, but that amount differs with each person and the amount damage done by the doctor.

It is not uncommon to have some discomfort after having a catheter in. If the discomfort lasts more than a day or so, I'd call your doctor b/c if the catheter is not inserted properly you can get a UTI. Don't try to avoid peeing though, urinary stasis can also lead to a UTI.

Just drink plenty of water and don't strain (push) when you urinate. It may take a little time, but you'll get used to it again. Take a painkiller if it is excruciating, which it is, I know.
I had a catheter in for longer than I want to try to remember - I was in a coma. It took a little time to become adjusted to normal urination, but I did.

You didn't say how long you'd been out of the hospital. If you had this pain while in hospital, did you report it??????
Never, ever hold the urine in. It's waste material that your body needs to get rid of. If your pain is to the point of being unbearable or doesn't improve within the next few days, get yourself off to the doctor!!!!

It isn't the fact that you had a catheter inserted, it is that you now have a bladder infection because you had a catheter inserted. You will need to see a doctor for antibiotics. It will not go away on its own. There are pills available OTC called Azo Standard; they will help mask the symptoms until you can get to a doctor. Be warned...Azo Standard makes your urine orange, so don't panic.
