I feel sorry for the one that was beat up. BUT I also believe that he may have said something that provoked them. This is the first time I've heard of problem like this from down there. (I'm sure there are a few, as in anywhere) I also think that anyone can be provoked into doing something. I know if someone kept calling me a name over and over and over I'd lose my cool too. (and I'm mild tempered) People can be provoked. I feel that they were. I'm not saying they are in the right, but I feel they were provoked. I am still waiting to hear more. I'm sure this will be in the social study books for studying in a few years, and probably a movie of the week.

That argument could be made had the poor kid that got beat by them had anything to do with the noose incident. Since he didn't, I don't see how he provoked them.....

It does NOT matter whether the Jena 6 were or were NOT provocated into beating a human being....a WHITE human being. The fact and very second ALL SIX beat that ONE KID , ALL six of them crossed legal lines and comitted a crime that is punishable by jail---and/or quite likely, prison time.

The Law does not look at their skin color. The Law is NOT concerned whether or not the Jena 6 were provocated. The Law demands that there is NO excuse to lynch beat a person.

Yes: the Jena 6 DID put the WHITE kid in the hospital; he later went to a school dance in DEFIANCE against the racial hate shown by the Jena 6 and racist BLACKS. And I cheer the Jena 6 victim for doing that; he IS a hero.

There are NO heroes or positive role models within the Jena 6.

The fault within each Jena 6 member---and quite likely their supporters as well--is they fail to remain civil and in control of their emotions, falling quickly into senseless violence. They have anger management classes in prison; it'd serve the Jena 6 well if they look into joining one there.

The violence shown by the Jena 6 does NOT present BLACK Americans in a favorable light and shows BLACKS can be just as--if not more--racist than WHITES or any other ethnic race.

The Jena 6 are NO more different than the KKK, Nazi skinheads or even the Black Panters (a well known BLACK "KKK" type hate group). They failed BLACKS in America, big time....and they're about to face Justice for it.

The Jena 6 have proven to the world the BLACK man is his own worst enemy.

There is NO legal evidence to suggest those nooses "hung" (for about 30 seconds, if that) from the tree on Jena high school grounds were done out of racial hate towards BLACKS; there were NO posted signs declaring who the nooses were intended for. The Law does NOT take speculation into consideration; only hard core facts. The Law challenges one to show hard evidence PROVING those nooses were intended for blacks....and guess what: no one can!!

The tree on the Jena high school grounds has been cut down. How stupid we ALL as a human race are to squabble over a tree???

The "jena 6" were not provoked. They were merely tried for committing a violent crime against a white person and one was tried as an adult - the appeals court reversed that and now he'll be tried as a juvenile. The provocation you speak of occured after this crime and after his court conviction. You really should get the facts straight - CNN/Jesse and company are trying to make this into some kind of "race" war that just does not exist even at their bequest.

The nooses hanging in the tree were the start of this from what I understand. Both are responsible. Parents, teachers, principal, those who helped esculate this. Someone had to be pretty mad to do the job on that boy that almost killed him. You can't tell me he's totally innocent like he says. If I was mad at someone for doing something to harm my child, I'd do the very same thing, to the person who did it. I wouldn't beat on someone who didn't do something offensive to me. He must have done something to be beat up that bad. Yes people are responsible for their own actions. But you don't usually get beaten up like that unless you do something bad to someone. I'm not saying it can't happen, but he was involved some way don't you think? (I don't think they drug him out from the school cafe while he was eating and just started doing this) he must have been out there. (Just my opinon)

Short answer: The whole community sat idly by until outsiders got the wind of it and moved the mountain of discrimination. All is not done because there are laws or no laws. Commitment to 'whatever is worth doing must be done' is essential to living in harmony.

The only fault lays with the perpetrators of the crime. After all, surely you're not suggesting the victim be blamed, are you?

Kids, fighting. But 6 on 1 is not fair in any fight. And all were old enough to know better.

There was no racism involved with this.

A crime was committed and the criminal should be charged according to the law.

White, black, or yellow, he or she should be held responsible for a crime if they committed.

That's all.

The media loves to turn things into a race issue to try and put sown the white male.

Who is at fault? Are you suggesting that people can't control their actions?

I don't care what color your skin is, if you break the law...you do the time.
