Gold Mystery Snail with a weird long something on the side, what is this?

I have two gold mystery snails, and one of them was trying to reach to the surface of the water with a weird looking part of his body, at the end of this part, there was a hole. I think he was trying to get some oxygen is this true? Thank you!

I believe you are referring to the "siphon" organ on it. When I first saw it on my snail I freaked out, lmao!! It's weird looking, isn't it?? And that's what he was trying to do, it's like a snorkel and he does breathe air through it. Pretty neat!
