Or even offered to return any of the money to their bank’s investors?

An example:

Starting in the late 1920s, and lasting until 1942, after WWII had started and Germany had declared war on the United States, Prescott Bush, as head of the banking firm of Brown Brothers And Harriman, provided 40% of the funding that put Hitler in power and built his war machine. It wasn’t until the ‘Trading With The Enemy Act’ of 1942 was passed and the Bush banking assets were frozen by our government that the funding stopped.

The Bush family wasn’t the only ones guilty. Many other American firms, like Standard Oil and Union Bank, funded Hitler and continued to do so even after Hitler’s crimes against mankind came to light.

I’m just wondering if the Bush family, or any American businessman, ever publicly apologized for helping put a madman into power?

(And I'm not pointing a finger at George H. B. Bush. He was a true American war hero and I respect him for that.)

Jadis, the Kennedy family got rich through illegal bootleg booze, not through funding Hitler. Was grandpa Kennedy a Hitler fan? I have no idea and it's a moot point here. He didn't fund Hitler.

I'm just asking here, not pointing fingers. Our government had apologized over the years for slavery, to Native Americans, etc. Even Germany has publicly apologized for their past. And don't give me that crap that American businessmen didn't know what Hitler was up to when they were still funding him up until WWII.

Yeah those evil, moneygrubbing rats. Getting rich by making people slaves and conning everyone into thinking they're employees. Never paying taxes. Demanding that the government take care of them so they never have to risk their own capital. Why the greedy slime. Every liberal in the country knows that it's really the government that provides the jobs, strengthens the economy, pays the taxes, comes up with the inventions and keeps the United States the wealthiest, strongest, freest and most successful nation in history. In fact, lets make all the businessmen go to work for the government for a full 12 months each year rather than the piddling 5 1/2 it takes to pay taxes each April 15th. Then nobody will be greedy any more, democrats won't have to depend upon the dead for votes and Hillary won't need the rest of her Norman Shu/Johnny Chung clones.

Keep in mind that the US wanted neutrality before the war, and trade is a tool to do so. Also, most of the world had little knowledge of what Hitler was like or what he was doing. At first he looked like just an average nut job who got some power. Just like some businessmen.

Though this does not excuse anybody. And it's unfair to judge the Bush family by what happened sixty to seventy years ago.

The Bushes are closet fascists. This was the source of the Bush family fortune and Prescott Bush was tied to a group that tried to overthrow FDR in 1933 - to install a fascist style dictatorship here in the US.
You think they care about where their money came from. This is a crime family.

Commercial enterprises move and dispense money, but it doesn't mean they were supporting anyone's political agenda. If you buy at WalMart, does that mean you were supporting Hillary just because she was on the Board of Directors at one time? No.

The pro-Nazi agenda does seem to work for the former smuggler, Joe Kennedy, however...

It suffices to say that capitalistic corporations are leery of socialists, whether they are National Socialists or Comintern.

Well, personally, I'm glad I'm not being held accountable for the actions of my ancestors. How far back should all this apologizing go? My ancestors on both sides are Scots - should I be expecting or asking for an apology from the British?

If you look back in *anyone's* family tree, you'll find all kinds of rascals, bandits, and just some bad people. But why hold their descendants responsible? I just don't understand that way of thinking. No offense meant - I really just don't get it.

Edit - to the first poster and the one below me - Did Kennedy apologize for his FATHER being a Nazi lover? I won't be holding my breath, but spare me your blatant partisan BS.

(Check the facts: GHW bush was NOT a "hero".)

American businessmen will never apologize for Hitler's clone (Currently in the stolen White House) either. And don't put your hard-earned money on the bush family being innocent either.

Raises the question of "nature or nurture". G.W. Bush is very like his grand daddy Prescott.
