Yes he should, just like stay at home wives should do the same. If both work full time, then both should share the duties, but if one of them stays home, they need to be the one to take care of the house.

Yes. A stay at home mom would clean the house, a stay at home husband should clean the house.

yes mam! i am a stay at home mom. and i bust my as* taking care of my son, CLEANING, doing all the other chores, and still being a good wife when my husband is home. and if the roles were switched, i'd expect the same from him. granted, being a stay at home mom or dad, sometimes there is literally just not enough time in the day to do everything. but if your husband REALLY isn't doing anything, and you said "husband", not "dad", kick his butt to the curb! if you don't have any children why would you even WANT to stay at home everyday? i WISH i could go to real work everyday and get paid$$$$$????

You need to have some open, fair and supportive discussions with him. the reality is, YES, he should take over the homemaker role, just as you would if you were staying at home. but, men are programmed differentlly than women in society, so, ego issues can get in the way. I suggest taking this into consideration, and entering into a series of discussions with him with no need to have a resolution immediately. Why is he at home, how does he feel about it, what would he expect you to do if you were at home, what does he think other men think of him, etc. A marriage is a long-term commitment, so take your time with this one, to get the best results in the end, not necessarily immediately. Men feel a LOT of responsibility and guilt for not being the breadwinner.

The stay at home partner is the person who does the cleaning, the grocery shopping, and primary care for the children. There is no free ride here.

Yes. I think that about 90% of the housework (cleaning, cooking) should go to the spouse who stays (and consequently, works) at home.
