burn your files to a CD or put them on a USB storage thing.
Then put in your windows disc and restart the computer. From there you can reinstall windows. Should take an hour or so.

That depends on what you mean by memory. If you mean your Ram,(Random Access Memory), it is cleared each time you turn your computer off. If you mean your ROM, (Read Only Memory), you don't. It is the basic configuration to run your computer. If you mean your swap files that windows use to enhance the RAM you can use Disk Cleanup. There are also third party programs that can clean out the swap files, Easy Cleaner by Toni Arts and CCleaner to name a couple.
Now if you are talking about Re-formatting your hard drive. I suggest that You save any files you want to keep to floppies, Cd's, or even DVDs. To reformat your hard drive you need your Operating System Disk also called Recovery Disk Using the install it should give you a choice to re-format your hard drive if not. use FDisk then run the installation disk.

Burn Everything you want to keep on to a DVD or CD. Then you can re format your harddrive by inserting your windows CD and then Hitting F8 at boot up. It will give you steps to do that. You will have a brand new Operating system and nothing you had on there will be on there.
it would help if you explained what you wanted to do and why. Memory has nothing to do with your programs. Memory makes your computer faster...

well, the easiest way to get rid of files on your hardrive is: go to START>MY COMPUTER>annd right click on Local disk C then click format and click "start." this will take a while so be pacient. BEFORE YOU DO THE ABOVE STEPS get any files you wish to keep and transfer them to a CD, anothe rHrdrive, flashdrive, or even an Ipod, or any Mp3 plauer with enough space will do. because their is no way to get these files back once you format the hardrive, THEY ARE GONE FOREVER. hope i helped

Throw it off a bridge into the water. Nope the files are gone, you will have to downlaod them again if you weren't smart enough to copy them prior to your laptop going swimming! Just curious, but your name isn't Earl is it?

You could try rebotting it or go to "start" then "settings" and "control panel" from there click on "Add or remove programs" then a screen would pop out and find some software or hardware u don't need and remove them.

why do you want to delete your memory or your stuff on your laptop?
well once its deleted, its deleted... not retrievable, gone, poof.
the only way to get it back and there is no guarantee is to have it done professionally.
But otherwise.... at the command prompt type: format c:\s

BACKUP THE FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP AND I BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE ASKING IS THAT YOU WHAT TO REFORMAT THE HARD DRIVE AND START OVER.
IF THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO THERE ARE TO MANY STEPS, THE BEST THING IS JUST GO ON-LINE AND GO TO YOUR COMPUTERS SITE AND PRINT THE HOW TO REFORMAT AND THEN PROCEED.
