I agree with what the other people are saying about marriage should make you feel secure, but I am seeing the quote in a different light. I do not believe that someone should get married to gain financial security, like they were scared they could not support themselves on their own. You should marry for love. I married mainly because I was afraid I could not support myself, and that is a bad reason, and it had the expected bad result.

Marriage is about love and security. Each partner is responsible for his or her own happiness, but they each have a secondary responsibility to make each other happy.
