READ ALL THIS!!:
Plug in your old iPod into your computer. (Don't worry, doing this will not delete the songs on your iPod, even if iTunes comes up)
-Open the My Computer folder.
-Click the icon for your iPod. (It'll be on the bottom right of the screen).
-Go to the toolbar menu and click FOLDER OPTIONS.
-Click the View Tab.
-Under Hidden Files and Folders mark "Show hidden files and folders."
-Now back in your iPod file click music and there should be a folder that is a lighter shade than all the others.
-In here there will be a bunch of folders that are numbered. (Such as F01 F02 etc...)
-If you click these there will be lots of files with random names (such as LKRR, WEOI, VHIW, DKIE, HAIW, etc....) these are all your song files. Don't worry all the song info is still on them (song, artist, album, everything).
-Copy and Paste them all into whatever folder you want on your computer. (Preferably the “My Music” folder).
-Repeat the above step for all the folders.
-Import the copied files (from wherever you stored them) into your iTunes. They will appear with all the correct information, and, depending on your settings, they should self re-arrange themselves into neatly organized folders on your computer.
-From itunes, click file and then sync new ipod

I suggest getting a blank CD or disk and transferring your whole iTunes music folder to it, then all you have to do is download it onto your other computer.

Because it's not the songs on the iPod, it's the songs on ?iTunes? that you use. It shouldn't affect it.

positioned it in disk mode (i anticipate this works on a mac too), hook it up and then My pc -> Blah's iPod Folders (Alt-F) -> stepped forward Folder thoughts -> coach hidden folders -> word replica each and all of the stuff on your computer. Import it with iTunes
