Take an egg carton and cut out all twelve cups, or use little paper drinking cups and cut them down to 1.5" high. Spraypaint them all black. Poke 8 evenly-spaced holes just below the open edge. Cut 4 black pipe cleaners in half. Stick one section into each of those 8 holes. Turn the thing right side up and glue wiggle eyes on in the right place. You can also cut a tiny bowtie out of felt or paper and glue that on, too. It makes a cute spider.
Ghosties are simple and fun, and make good treats. Take a Tootsie Roll Pop or pop of similar size. Take a white Kleenex or other facial tissue. Center the pop on the tissue. Bring the tissue down and tie it under the pop, where the stick comes out. I like to use yarn that tells me the flavor of the pop, like red yarn for the cherry pop, brown yarn for the chocolate one, and so forth. Lightly dot eyes on it, if you like, with a waterbased (NOT permanent) marker. If you make light little dots, the color won't run too badly on the tissue.
Take a licorice lace, a thin black one, and cut 8 3" pieces. Stick them into a large black gumdrop for an edible spider. These are great on cakes or cupcakes. You can make frosting eyes, if you like.
