how can i test a ecm that i already removed from my 1992 geo tracker? I took it out today thinking the auto parts store could test it, but they dont. please help!!

The only test for ECM is try a good known one,after everything else checked out OK,as per service manual.It is the last thing to try on the diagnostic tree.

I would suggest you put it back. There is no way you can test it. What is your problem that you would want to test it. What were you going to test. If you have engine problems this would be the last thing I would suspect. Post some symptoms or problems and perhaps someome can help. You have likely messed up the ecm memory. Hopefully it will reprogram itself.

there's no way to test those for no one they have to be sent off and checked,and that's really expensive,if you take it to a dealer you can get it checked,you can also buy a used one from a salvage yard for it if you think that one is bad,or get a re-built one for it but there's no way to test it and it out,if its in the car a scanner will test it,and tell you if it has a problem,but not with it being out,anyone with a really good scanned can test it if its in the car,good luck with it,
