I am going to get a ipod from a friend but he's only able to give me the ipod and the connector cord will I have to have the disk that comes with it when you first buy it or not ?

No you dont need the cd. The cd only downloads itunes. You can download itunes from this site:

You do, if you have a PC you can download the software need here:

If you own a mac, you don't need it. It already has the software on it.

theres not disk to it. just go to apple.com and click on itunes and download that software
